Modern neurology-imaging techniques like Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) can reveal brain tissue abnormalities resulting from degenerative diseases such as dementia, multiple sclerosis and cerebrovascular disorders.
Bio-Imaging offers automated quantitative analysis to assess brain atrophy and lesion load in qualitative MR scans such as T1,
PD/T2, and FLAIR. Furthermore, automatic histogram analysis can be performed
in quantitative MR scans, such as diffusion weighted images (DWI) and magnetization
transfer images (MTI).
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic disease of the central nervous system in which the myelin coating of the nerves gradually diminishes. This is visualized on MRI scans of the brain as white matter lesions.
Alzheimer's disease causes atrophy in specific areas in the brain. Progression of atrophy on MRI images in patients with Alzheimer's disease reveals the effect of medical therapies developed for stagnation of the disease. Cerebrovascular disorders are also visualized as lesions in the brain tissue.
